How to choose the right category to maximize exposure2. How to name your podcast (Do you use your brand or use SEO optimized keywords)All in all, well worth the read.A few additional tips I have learned:1. Launch 5 episodes to start (when someone subscribes, that is 5 downloads. That means 10 people = 50 downloads). Itunes uses downloads as a key indicator of success.2. For the first 7 days, launch a podcast a day (after your first 5 on the first day). This helps people trust that you are going to be there for them. After the first week, you can ramp down to your normal schedule (i.e. once or twice a week).3. Do not buy ratings on itunes (itunes gives higher rank to more active users. Fake accounts may hurt you. I didn't do this, but know folks who did)4. Choose a category that has lower competition and use SEO fiendly keywords. This will help people find you in organic search.5. Do a video podcast and also strip the audio out and do a separate audio podcast. This gives you twice the exposure! -MEGATIP: Be sure to post the audio version in a separate category (that way you can rank in two charts and get more listeners).6. Basically an infomercial for his pay websites, courses, etc. I felt like from the first page of the book I was being bombarded with a sales pitch. Don't waste your money on this, or other so-called "books" by this huckster. Ugh.
Successful podcasters have a lot of knowledge and experience to impart about how they made it, and I'm glad the author took the time to share what worked for him in launching his show. For what it's worth I did find a few useful tips in this book, though it required sifting through what amounts to advertising for his other products and services in addition to plugging his own podcast what felt like an inordinate number of times. The author's bona fides are quickly established- reading again and again how amazing his podcast is became a game of diminishing returns pretty quickly.My initial rating was 2 stars, bumped up one because I have not availed myself of the video tutorials and I'm willing to concede readers might find more value in material sourced but not included in the book. The honest truth is this book will likely end up in a donation box sooner than later for me, as I wish I hadn't purchased what is essentially a brochure/advertisement.
Good information. I'm grateful for the content, but I purchased the book with the promise of access to the videos. No such luck. They need to update the book with new links. There are outdated links throughout the book to videos on the author's website which no longer connect. A portion of the book specifically refers readers to videos 1-6, but those links go to the author's main page without links to the referenced videos. I am grateful for the written information as I'm just beginning to explore the world of podcasting. I'll search out other books.

I read the book while traveling and determined to begin a podcast when I came home. A round of seasonal allergies put my voice out of commission which was a good thing because I've had to calm down and follow a reasonable plan to be ready. Podcast Launch remains close to the top of the books on my Kindle Fire.

This is definitely a heartwarming, family-friendly, episode of our real old western adventure that has everything in exciting sequences from beginning to end! I, without hesitation, recommend this series of spectacular travels through the old west, by another creative author, to everyone, especially lovers of great western adventures. There is a little romantic interludes, but I anticipate an increase in that area in upcoming episodes. Please! What a pleasure to read. As a avid western reader, I have had the pleasure of comparing authors since I was a boy, reading Riders of the Purple Sage and dreaming of going west myself. I have always been the main character in my own story, but in my heart, truly tall in the Saddle. They say old Soldiers never die, they just fade away, kind of like riding off into the sunset, sounds good to me. Thanks for the stories, thanks for the trail to ride. This series is gripping. From the florist page of book one to the last of this book. I’m like a kid again going to the Saturday matinee to catch the next episode. These are the best westerns I’ve read in many years. I enjoy the plots and twist and the realistic western settings. Do yourself a favor and get ant of his books and just enjoy.I’ve read everything he’s written. Can’t wait for the next book from Mr. Robertson. Saturday can’t come fast enough.
This is the sequel to Forty-Four Caliber Justice and, is as great as the first book. Lots of action and just a super read. This story is very goodhas an interesting plot that shows the , difference in the characters of each person in thebook. I really enjoyed the book and, would recommendit to all western readers....THANKS
There are only a set number of stories that are told in westerns, other that those taken from other types of books and converted into westerns. This book follows the pattern well with enough twists to keep it interesting.
Another great book from Mr. Robertson. I love to read this man’s work. The stories are both believable. I can’t wait to get the next installment from him.
I enjoyed following the continued story of the characters of this book and have already purchased Andreas the third one, which was also excellent.
Although we "knew" which path Clay would take, there was just enough suspense to keep us guessing. Very nicely done, Mr. Robertson.

I lived for three happy years in pre-Khadafi Tripoli, Libya. One of my friends was Mr. Durdungi, a Palestinian refugee who wrote the history textbook used in secondary schools in Libya at that time. I had never heard of Ibn Khaldun until Mr. Durdungi showed me his seven-volume set of The Muqaddimah, which he had recently purchased from an Arabic publisher in Baghdad. He told me that the seven volumes were only the introduction to world history and we wondered, at that rate, how many volumes it would have taken Ibn Khaldun to complete the entire history of the world!Mr. Durdunji explained to me that Ibn Khaldun placed the nomadic Bedouin Arabs and Arabacized Berbers as a central motivating force in history. Evidence that civilizations come and go was all around us: the magnificent Roman ruins of Leptis Magna and Sabratha were nearby and made a profound impression on me. Ibn Khaldun wrote The Muqaddimah within sight of other ruins in Algeria. The mute testimony of the ruins was all the proof he needed to support a cyclic theory of history.Ibn Khaldun saw the strong tribal bonds of the Bedouin Arabs as necessary for survival in the inhospitable desert. The tribe was basically a family in which all members trace their genealogy back to a single illustrious ancestor. But after a desert tribe conquered a city, the familial and tribal ties began to weaken, succumbing to petty jealousies and lusts for luxury and power. After a few generations, new tribes from the desert would defeat the now decadent dynasty, destroying the infrastructure and organization of the city, and leaving it in ruins again. After three or four generations, the new dynasty would be replaced with yet another tribal incursion, and so it went.Ibn Khaldun’s brilliant insights into the workings of history have given him almost mythic standing among many contemporary scholars. He is credited with being the father of sociology before Weber; of introducing the labor theory of value before Marx; of being the father of the philosophy of history, and so on. VERY DIFFICULT TO READ AS AN E-BOOK. Be warned -- I wish I'd bought the hard copy. The book is fascinating and wide-ranging, but the author always uses Arabic terms, which makes sense since many (most? all?) of them have no direct parallel in English. But there is no glossary, so if you don't happen to remember what an Arabic word refers to, many pages after its first appearance, you're stuck. The only alternative that I can think of is trying the Index -- but on Kindle that means making a note of where you are in the text, then going to the Index to find the term, and going back into the text to try to find the appearance of the term when it's first described. But since the Index of course refers to specific pages in the hard copy version, this will be only a vague indication for an e-reader. I can only wish that the author and publisher had included a glossary in the Kindle version. At this point (I'm about halfway through) I'm not really prepared to go back to the very beginning to compile my own glossary. So it's all very frustrating, particularly since the book itself is so interesting.
A real intellectual joy, although not a biography in any real sense. More a critique and commentary on Ibn Khaldun's Muqaddima. As such it is a bit of biography of that work, addressing itself to what makes it great but also how it has been read and misread over the centuries. I particularly enjoyed Irwin's tying of the Muqaddima to modern science fiction works, Asimov's Foundation series and especially Herbert's Dune. This will not appeal to everyone but as someone who knew little about Muslim tenants (despite living in Saudi Arabia for several years, shame on me), this was fascinating.
Irwin not only enhances our understanding of Ibn Khaldun but also his age and the later orientalists who translated and studied him.
This book left its fabulous ambition unfulfilled. I enjoyed becoming acquainted with Ibn Khaldun, his 14th century world, and his important writings. The story of Ibn Khaldun and his contemporaries was new to me, and very interesting. Unfortunately, the author seems to have difficulty deciding whether his objective was to present and analyze Ibn Khaldun and his writings, or to review every subsequent translation (or mistranslations) and interpretation of Ibn Khaldun’s work. Now at the end of this book, it is not at all clear what perspective the author holds of Ibn Khaldun.I come away disappointed. The story was ambitious and had so much potential, but that potential was unfulfilled.
The book says (Rosenthal’s rendering of Kalbi as Kalbite, a tenth-century Arab dynasty who ruled in Sicily, is most unlikely to be right. “Canine†or “dog-like†seems more likely.)But there were kalbites before 10th century. The Prophet's emissary to Emperor Hercules was Dihya al-Kalbi. And Ali apparently married a Kalbi woman and had a daughter. And whenever Ali asked the little one which tribe she was from she used to reply " 'a 'a" meaning " woof woof"
This book would have received a higher rating if the author had spent more time learning Arabic, or perhaps reviewed translation before producing his own. In Chapter one he quotes the Qur'an 17:16 in an entirely lopsided manner, confusing what fafasaku means in the context. Not a single Qur'anic translation, Muslim or otherwise had confused it in the way he did, whereas his version says that God has ordered the people to be bad, the actual verse says they did ill DESPITE receiving commandments from God. How could he have so thoroughly corrupted the verse is both embarrassing and irresponsible and says a lot about the author.

THE RATS is the third James Herbert novel I have read. I started out with his second novel, THE FOG, after reading a synopsis I found intriguing (I reviewed that one on this forum earlier). I then happened upon THE SURVIVOR at a used bookshop, and once again enjoyed the horrific ride that Herbert takes the reader on. His first novel, however, eluded me for some time; it was out of print for a while and then I forgot about it. Fortunately I finally got round to it.All I can say is WOW. First novels are tricky things; the author's future success relies heavily on the impact they have on the reading public, and if the author should stumble, (s)he may not get a second chance.Some first novels are legendary; Stephen King's CARRIE and Margaret Mitchell's GONE WITH THE WIND come immediately to mind. It matters little that CARRIE was just the beginning of a brilliant career while Mitchell was a flash in the pan; they both achieved a legendary status that will probably remain always.With THE RATS, Herbert really hit the ground running. Most writers, regardless of genre, usually spend a little time setting the scene and providing the reader with a sense of place, and also takes some time to introduce the characters. Not Herbert. As Stephen King once put it, Herbert "grabs you by the lapels and starts screaming in your face." By page ten, the first horror has already been visited on the reader, the roller coaster is in motion, out of control and picking up speed, and heading for one unbelievably horrific crash after another.I really don't need to reveal anything about the plot; if you can't figure out the basic premise from the title, then horror is clearly not for you. And even horror fans may find Herbert a bit much: his books are not for the squeamish; he seldom pulls back from the crunch, and seems at times to revel in the blood and gore he spills.And he does all this in that cool, calm, rational prose so typical of English writers; somehow this makes the endless horrors in THE RATS all the more dreadful.If it is decadent to enjoy a novel like this, I plead guilty. The man was a genius.
A suburban ratpocalipse.The Rats is a direct and simple horror book, but with great descriptions and surprisingly deep characters. Specially for a story about mutant rats gone mad!This is a short book with a to-the-point narrative. Stephen King has described this story as Mike Tyson on his prime: “no finesse and raw powerâ€. We are introduced to Harris, an art teacher from the poor London suburbs. His neighborhood is soon taken by tales of deadly attacks by rats the size of dogs and he becomes one of the main agents against the plague.The book has similarities with zombie stories, in particular because the rats’ bites are deadly, but there is no total Apocalypse. The strong points are the extremely graphic descriptions of the attacks, that may turn into a total massacre involving a lot of people. Like in a crowded train and another one in a movie theater. When the lights are turned on, the floor is completely taken by the rats.It is very interesting how the author builds multi-lawyered characters with complex stories just to have them brutally torn by a mass of killer rodents in a few paragraphs. We have a man in a midlife crisis that is revealed to be a true hero, a nymphomaniac street dweller that lost to the war the only man who satisfied her, a former salesman that had an affair with a fellow worker and now has surrendered to alcoholism.A great read.
This is my first Herbert book, but the first of many ! Absolutely the best. I was reading a series of reviews in the New Uork Times, the was organized by subject, & this was one of the top ten horror/thriller category. Even though the Times tends to be pretty uppity, I figured what the hell, we aren't talking Agatha Chrisrie here, how bed could it be ? It's not, & when you get five star reviews from Stephen King, you know you've got a winner. No point in going over the plot, it's man earring rats all the way. There's even a tribute from Preston & Childs book Reliquary - about half way through the Rats, I there is a train thing, & I had this déjà -vu feeling, big time. It's virtually the same scene, written decades later. Tribute , plagiarism, or a bit of both? I'm going with tribute . Preston & Childs hardly need to use someone else's work. Any, get it on Kindle & go for it. Unlike today's 600 + page behemoths, this is a one nighter
