Hard Rock Love is the fourth book in the Cherry Lips series. It's full of love understanding and hyjnx. Seth is the fun loving jokester in his band, always trying to make everyone happy. Abby is quite college student trying to find her way. I really liked Hard Rock Love because its a light sweet love story mixed with fun and understanding. Seth turned out to be such a sweet understanding guy for Abby. Must Read Series!
I thought Nathan had become my favorite Cherry Lips member, but no! It is officially Seth! Seth and Abby are perfection! I simply adore their relationship. Seth is such a fun, amazing character. I cannot get enough of him.It is a bittersweet feeling to know that this is the last Cherry Lips book. But I loved this book so much. â¤â¤â¤â¤â¤

I love Athena Wright and her Cherry Lips series. Abby is the insecure college student with a bad reputation on campus thanks to 2 guys at a frat party who couldn't handle being turned down and little sister of Everly. Seth is the rock god drummer of Cherry Lips. Abby is trying to figure out what she her passion in life is, and Seth is secretly taking a college course to get his high school diploma without any of his friends finding out. Abby has always crushed on Seth but never thought she had a chance with him, and Seth finds himself attracted to Abby when he sees that she is all grown up but knows Everly will kill him if he messes with her baby sister. Abby offers to help Seth pass his class by tutoring him. As Abby and Seth spend time together, they realize they like each other and are willing to deceive their friends to be together. Will Abby realize her reputation on campus is not as bad as she thinks it is? Will Seth have to sacrifice his dream of a high school diploma for the band's chance to headline a tour? Can Seth and Abby make time for each other with their crazy, busy schedules? I loved how Abby and Seth's relationship moved from friends getting to know each other again to lovers who can't stand to be away from each other. The chemistry between Abby and Seth that goes from a slow simmer to crazy HOT! Hard Rock Love by Athena Wright is an amazing book full of great characters, love, angst, passion, and laughter. Hard Rock Love will keep the reader invested from the beginning to the end. Athena Wright is a MUST read author for this reader. About the Author
Barbara Abdeni Massaad is a food writer, TV host, cookbook author, and a regular contributor to international cooking magazines. She is the author of Interlink's bestselling cookbook Man'oushe : Inside the Street Corner Lebanese Bakery. She won the the Gourmand Cookbook Award and the International Academy of Gastronomy Award for Mouneh: Preserving Foods for the Lebanese Pantry. Born in Beirut, Lebanon, she moved to Florida at a young age. She gained her real culinary experience while helping her father in their family-owned Lebanese restaurant Kebabs and Things. After moving back to Lebanon in 1988, and completing university there, she decided to pursue her passion for cooking. Determined to gain proper experience within the culinary world, Barbara trained with several renowned chefs at Lebanese, Italian, and French restaurants. She is also a founding member of Slow Food Beirut and an active participant in the International Slow Food movement. She lives in Beirut with her husband and three children.

Soup for Syria is a wonderful book on many levels. The recipes are delicious, yet simple to prepare; the photographs are beautiful; and the profits help people. I discovered this book because of my theology class's concern about Syrian refugees. I bought ten copies----one for each member of the class. At the next meeting, we ate Greek Chickpea Soup with Lemon and Rosemary (page 77)-----satisfying to body and soul. Other favorites are Carrot and Ginger Soup, Curried Cauliflower Soup, and Iranian Pomegranate Soup. I can't wait to try Green Asparagus Soup with Poached Eggs and Sauteed Shrimp.
Marvelous book with beautiful photos if its excellent recipes. Gave two as gifts. Pleased that buying this book benefits Syrian refugees, but it would be an excellent cookbook without that extra perk.
A very delicious book, but I'd say you have to be a bit adventurous-not terribly, but this is not a chicken noodle and tomato soup cookbook. There are quite a few vegetarian recipes, using a variety of vegetables. Lamb is also a popular ingredient in a few. I have made about three soups so far, sometimes with trepidation. They have all really tasted delicious ! This is an update to my original review. I have tried at least five of the recipes – some because they sounded interesting, and some because I had all of the ingredients needed for the particular recipe. Without exception, every one of the recipes produced and absolutely and amazingly delicious soup. The flavors are very well blended and smooth. Amazing! I enthusiastically recommend this book!
This is a beautiful book, with images that are both heartwarming and heart-wrenching. I bought this book as a participant in a cookbook club soup swap event on meetup.com. At the event, I sampled about a dozen of the soups. Most were a bit on the bland side, including the roasted beet soup I made. So buy the book -- it's a great cause -- but know that you have to tinker with many of the recipes to build more flavor.
I found out about this cook book from another friend of mine who had it. She told me the recipes were easy to follow and delicious. I ordered one for myself and absolutely love the recipes. A favourite of mine is the cold cucumber soup. Another friend liked the "Syrian" dinner I threw and I have bought another one to give it as a gift to her. I highly recommend it
I've made six soups from this book and all have been easy, with accessible ingredients and soooo good. Beautiful photography.
Beautiful book and a worthy cause! The recipes, mostly vegetarian, are good, basic recipes and relatively easy to prepare. To date I've only made 3 or 4 of them and am reasonably happy with the results. I plan to not only make more of the soups in the book but have bought 3 additional copies to give as gifts. Recommend.

Dark Agenda — The War to Destroy America by David Horowitz is another masterpiece tome by a prolific and relentless conservative warrior who has previously exposed and documented in a series of now classic books the destructive and malevolent history of the New Left from the 1960s to the present. These books include such tour de force tomes as Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About the Sixties (with Peter Collier; 1989), Radical Son—A generational Odyssey (1998), and more recently the Black Book of the American Left (2016). His new book is a little different, considering that Horowitz was a former communist progressive, who is still an agnostic Jew and independent thinker, even if he is now an uncompromisingly leader of the conservative movement.Dark Agenda is an expose of the left’s savage war against God and Christianity with the goal of replacing God with progressive socialist man as the ruling deity of social justice and the new world order. Horowitz points out that Christian principles were behind the guiding light of the American Revolution and the ideals bolstering the foundation of the American Republic. It is because of this Christian foundation as basis for moral principles, patriotism, and conservatism that liberals, from Margaret Sanger and Christopher Hitchens to Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama, have waged an unremitting war against Christianity, subtly in the case of some and not so subtly in the case of others. The Judeo-Christian ideals upon which this nation was founded are abhorrent to the new left and the Democrat party because they are an obstacle to government usurpation. Along the way, Horowitz also exposes the atheistic and radical objectives of such organizations as the ACLU and the judicial activism of the courts in banning prayer from schools and Christian symbols from public buildings. At the same time religious speech has been disallowed in political discourse, and Christianity itself extricated from the popular culture. He does not forget to describe and document the virulent hatred of liberal atheists toward those who espouse Christianity and conservatism. Summer is a nurse in her hometown's hospital. Tanner is an award winning bull rider, traveling in rodeos. When Tanner rides the bull named Lucky Thirteen in Summer's town, he's thrown and trampled on. Tanner wakes up after surgery, looking into his beautiful nurse's face. Sparks begin to fly between them, but Summer's heart has been broken too many times. When she's assigned to be his home health PT nurse, Tanner couldn't be happier. He moves in with his friend's family for the eight weeks. Can Summer trust Tanner, open her heart again? What's Tanner supposed to do with his "new normal life"? Will he be able to ride bulls again? What did God have in mind as he orchestrated all this? I've loved all of Liz's books!
Lucky Number Thirteen is another great novel by Liz Isacson. This is a tender love story of a bull rider named Tanner was was injured when he was thrown off the Bull, Lucky Number Thirteen. His Nurse in Recovery is Summer. It's a story of faith, trying to figure out God's plan for their lives, and honoring. God. As always, it is a wonderful western, clean, and very well written. This is not a long book, and can very easily be read in n evening. A MUST READ.
As always I have to give this story 5 stars. I read it in one day. Summer was a caring nurse and a sweet girl who reached out to Tanner after he was hurt.Tanner was learning how to live for God and wandered why he had to get hurt now. Two people who connected right away and tried to help each other. A very sweet romance that showed how much they cared and showed their love in a wonderful sweet way. Two people who were made for each other. Liz you did it again. Thanks
This is another clean romance from Liz Isaacson that you just can't put down. I love how old characters and new interact in the stories. You can read this alone or in the order they were written. This story deals with a cowboy and how his life can change in an instant and the woman who meets and loves him any way and choices she must face because of that love. It is a bit of a story of loss and love and learning to be happy with who you are. Great, great read.
Finding your way after your world has been torn apart is never easy as Tanner Wolf finds out in Lucky Number Thirteen part of Liz Isaacson’s A Three Rivers Ranch Romance series. Falling in love with your beautiful nurse named Summer Hamblin. Both broken in different ways help the other heal and realize that worlds change in unexpected ways. I highly recommend this book if you want a sweet short read and by a terrific author.
I love this story. It's a short, easy and enjoyable read. It's inspirational without being preachy. When I started the book, I thought it would be awful, because I did not like Tanner in the previous book he was a character in. But, he's changed for the better. So, he's just as sexy as the other Cowboys in Liz Isaacson's books. Great job!
When I first met Tanner Wolf, the only thing I wanted to do was slap him for the way he treated women. After his tragic rodeo accident, Tanner seems to change. His nurse Summer is a peaceful soul and seems to calm the inner man. My heart broke for Summer, but I understood Tanner's choices. This book is about sacrifices and what will you sacrifice for family and love.

There is a much better development of characters in the MG series, in comparison to the AB series.Note that not all of the MG books involve a murder mystery in the plot; much of the series revolves around the dangerous and uncertain politics of the Faerie courts that Merry must maneuver through. This book lays out her reasons for fleeing Faerie, but her position as a Royal means there is no permanent escape. She is dragged back into that dangerous world of intrigue, even as she tries to balance it with her human-world job as a private agency detective.The MG series shows off Ms. Hamilton's writing at her best. You really feel Merry's fear and anxieties as she tries to be part of two worlds: the human world she knows well, having actually attended college and graduated with a degree, versus the beautiful but deadly courts of immortal Faerie, the place Merry almost died, growing up as a despised half-human but who could not be ignored because of her Royal blood. This tension of being between two worlds is gripping, and how Merry matures through the series is realistically handled.There are multiple sex partners - a given with Ms. Hamilton - but the number is much more manageable in the MG books. Readers will find it easier to not only remember the names of her lovers, but their personalities and appearances. This is in sharp contrast to the Anita Blake series, which has gone on much too long and become overly complex, with so many sex partners for Anita it's almost impossible to keep them all straight, let alone care much about the last two dozen or so.No so with the Merry Gentry series. Ms. Hamilton introduces the main characters and they will remain the focus through all the books, giving this series a much stronger storyline. Reviewed by: Rabid ReadsLaurell K. Hamilton is consistently a woman ahead of her time.It started with her Anita Blake series back in 1993. Yes, that’s right—1993. I was . . . well, I’m not going to tell you how old I was in 1993, but suffice it to say, I was young enough that my mother wouldn’t want me reading an adult UF series, and that was BEFORE the Big Shift from straight-up UF to UF/erotica that took place in 2001 with book 10.So first Hamilton was one of the pioneers in the Urban Fantasy genre (if you could even call it a genre at that time), then she began shifting her writing into the largely unexplored territory of erotica.That shift displeased many of Hamilton’s fans, and she was criticized for lowering the standards of popular fiction in general. She was attacked, and called all manner of nasty things, her writing referred to as “smut†and the so-called decline of her series the result of laziness.Pfft.I’m not going to undermine the outcry of the readers who genuinely have zero interest in the sexuality-driven series that Anita Blake became. If I hadn’t adapted (like multitudes of others), I would have also been hugely disappointed that a previously beloved series transformed into something I found utterly distasteful.But I did adapt, and Hamilton’s Merry Gentry series has never been anything other than what it started as—Fae (YAY!) focused UF chock full of sexy times.If that’s not your thing, then it’s not your thing. To each their own, and all that.But do not try to convince me that Hamilton traded well-written, plot-driven books for sex, sex, and MORE sex, THE END, b/c it simply isn’t true:"I leaned my back against the windows and the thick, hanging smog. The day was as grey as my boss, but his color was a cool, crisp grey, like clouds before a spring rain. What lay outside the window felt heavy and thick like something you would try to swallow, but you’d never get it down. It was a day to choke on, or maybe it was just my mood."Say what you want about LKH, but girl can write.So by now, most of you know that I love A-L-I-E-N-S. But there is one thing that I love even more than A-L-I-E-N-S and that is . . .FAE.And LKH’s Merry Gentry series embodies precisely what I love about Fae—DELICIOUS ambiguity.Are they good, or are they bad?It has never been, nor will ever be that simple. At best you’ll find mostly good or bad Fae, but even then, the basic nature of the Fae is so capricious that you can never know what they’re going to do.I LOVE that.Another common theme in Fae-based books is difficulty with procreation, and this is certainly the case in A Kiss of Shadows.The Fae, though practically immortal, have been dwindling for centuries. The Unseelie Queen has but one heir, her son Cel, who is becoming more and more unignorably unstable. Enter Merry, the Queen’s part-human niece, who is brought back into the fold and offered a bargain:She can pick as many of the Queen’s personal guard as she wants as lovers, and if she becomes pregnant within the next three years, the Queen will abdicate, making Merry the new Queen, and the father of the child the Consort and King.Guess how much Cel likes that proposition—abouthismuch<——no spaces = notalot.Yes, there’s sex, and LOTS of it. But there’s also a good plot and lots o’ action as well . . . the other kind of action, get your mind out of the gutter. *snorts*Also, the Fae folklore is spot-on. The Seelie, though not much of a presence yet, are believably depicted as the “shining ones†that are not nearly the creatures of goodness and light that humans perceive them to be, and the Unseelie are a multitude of hideous creatures, as well as the Seelie-like (in appearance anyway) royal sidhe.Basically, I loved it.I would recommend A Kiss of Shadows to anyone who doesn’t mind a healthy dose of sex in their UF, but especially to those who have read and liked (loved?) Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series, or the independently published Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins. I won’t absolutely guarantee that if you like either of those, you’ll like this, but it’s a near thing, and given that this series predates Fever by 5 or 6 years, I think it’s safe to say that Merry Gentry paved the way for other books like this, Fever and Fae Chronicles included.
Book clubs, you're either in them for one of two reasons; you really enjoy reading and have a group of friends you want to mentally mess up with your book choices or you're trying to look sophisticated when in reality you only want to drink wine and gossip. I fall into the former of those reasons. Now with that said that also means the rest of my book club coincidentally falls under that same reason, so when romance was picked as our next genre group I knew it was a race to find the best book that would scar the rest of us for life. We've had some books for this group that make me shake my head and wonder, then we got this one and I won't lie...I actually enjoyed it.The plot was actually mostly interesting, the characters were decently fleshed out (hehe), and I found that I didn't mind the actual writing. What came as an utter shock to me was that I apparently liked it enough to finish it in two days. Do I actually care about whether Meredith becomes the next queen? Absolutely not. Do I care if Cel survives his punishment? Still nope. Do I want to find out however if she finally sleeps with my favorite of the guards Doyle? Uhh...YES.I did struggle a little bit with the beginning of this book. I felt like there were things introduced, like the mention of Sidhe worship (which is forbidden), that was never really touched upon again. When it's first brought up it's made a huge deal that something like that is happening but once you reach the ending all of a sudden it's resolved with only one sentence and not mentioned elsewhere.Would I have read this book on my own because of the synopsis? Nope. I honestly probably would have never taken a second glance at this. Am I glad that someone picked this for book club and I was basically forced to read it? Absolutely, and I will probably wind up picking up the next book so I can see if Doyle finally gets a turn.
