About the Author
Rita Baron-Faust is an award-winning medical journalist and author of five books on women's health, and a regular contributor to the Rheumatology Network. She is an adjunct instructor in the department of Biology and Health Education at St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY, and serves on the board of directors of the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association. Jill P. Buyon, M.D., is director of the Division of Rheumatology and a professor of medicine at the New York University School of Medicine. She is the founder and director of the Lupus Clinic at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute in New York City. Dr. Buyon is Editor-In-Chief of the journal Lupus Science & Medicine and is a leading researcher in the field of neonatal lupus.

I'm so grateful for this book. It is well layed out, well documented, well researched, easy to read, and easy to understand. Having had this book when I was in the process of getting multiple diagnoses would have been extremely helpful, but it is STILL extremely helpful even now. As new individual symptoms crop up, I am able to quickly turn to any number of sections to see if that symptom profile fits anything I'm dealing with - very helpful in reducing anxiety levels and unnecessary trips to doctors. The index is very helpful - you can find what you're looking for by symptom, by diagnosis, by warning signs, by medication, etc. Treatment options are discussed. The authors include helpful listings for websites, support groups, foundations, and the most current and widely accepted 'definitive' books on the individual diseases covered in this book. Of the books on my shelves, this is the book I would be least likely to part with.
It's okay. Nothing to ohh and ahh about. I found out some interesting facts on what I have but I already did research on the internet and knew that. I thought I would find added info but only found a few extra tidbits about what I suspected. Next time I will go to the library.
I purchased this book with many others for a dear friend of mine recently diagnosed. Therefore, I am unable to provide an informed review of the content of the book. I selected 4/5 stars for this book because I did flip through it and read a few random sections. I thought it was easy to understand and I haven't heard anything different from the recipient of the book. I would order from this seller again.

A fantastic book that was perfect to read right after my initial autoimmune diagnosis. Helped set a foundation of knowledge so I could enter my appointments knowing what my rheumatologist was talking about!
