Miessler and Tarr are the standard for Inorganic Chemistry. Whether you are a professor or a student you should be using Miessler and Tarr for Inorganic Chemistry. (I would recommend getting one of the newer editions). However, the 4th edition add color images, and re-arranges some things. Other than that, content wise, it's the same as the 3rd edition.
I used this book for my undergraduate course in Inorganic. I thought it did it's job pretty well. The explanations were simple and easy to follow. If you need practice problems with solutions, however, you would need supplementary material.
I found the text difficult to read and understand without taking Physical Chemistry.
Inorganic chemistry is an interesting class, and this book is much cheaper to rent or buy than the newest 5th edition. The only draw back is that you need the solutions manual (which sells separately).

Front binding is coming apart but it's manageable. The pages are in great condition (practically new) which is the important part.
Loved the class. The book was a little dry though.
Very accessible book, read it from cover to cover. The material isn't always the easiest but I feel that the book describes very visual concepts and computational concepts extremely well. Best chemistry book I've had, though this is the only inorganic chemistry book I own.
